About this trail

Shenbagadevi falls sits in the forest above the main Courtallam cascades, a short climb from the forest guest house. The path passes old inscriptions carved into the rock and ends at a natural pool beneath the falls, beside a small shrine to the goddess Shenbaga Devi, with the town and valley spread out below. It is 2 km each way; allow about 3 hours including time at the water. The walk is graded easy. Lion-tailed macaques, giant squirrels, sambar and spotted deer and monitor lizards all live in these hills. A rewarding outing for families visiting Tenkasi.

Out and back: 2 km each way

When to go: Best from October to March, after the monsoon, when streams run full and the air is clear. Expect rain and leeches from June to September, and hot afternoons in the foothills from April.
