Nestled 25 feet up in a jackfruit tree on the edge of a coffee estate, this treehouse accommodation offers an immersive rainforest experience. The structure is built with sustainably sourced local timber and bamboo, with large mesh windows that let in forest sounds while keeping insects out. The treehouse sleeps two comfortably (a third can be added with a mattress) and has solar-powered lighting, a compost toilet, and a rain-shower fed by estate spring water.
The Anamalai Hills are a biodiversity hotspot. From the treehouse balcony, guests regularly see lion-tailed macaques (endangered, endemic to the Western Ghats), Malabar giant squirrels, bonnet macaques, and dozens of bird species including the spectacular Malabar pied hornbill. Elephants sometimes pass through the estate at dawn — the treehouse provides a safe, elevated vantage point.
All meals are served at the estate bungalow, a five-minute walk from the treehouse. Dinner is a traditional Tamil meal cooked by the host family; breakfast includes estate coffee, dosa and seasonal fruits from the property. Guests can join the optional dawn coffee-estate walk (separate experience) or simply spend their days reading on the treehouse balcony, watching the canopy come alive.
The treehouse operates on solar power, uses spring water, composts all waste, and employs local staff. The host is involved in the local wildlife corridor conservation project that maintains forest connectivity between the Anamalai Tiger Reserve fragments.
