Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show

ஏற்காடு கோடை விழா

21 May – 27 May 2027

வைகாசி 7 21 May

Anna Park and Yercaud Lake, Yercaud

A week-long summer festival in the Shevaroy Hills each May, with a flower show at Anna Park, boat races and cultural events.

Expected: recent editions began in the fourth week of May (May 23 in 2025, May 22 in 2026). The Salem district administration announces dates in May.

The Yercaud Summer Festival (Kodai Vizha) is held for about a week every May in Yercaud, a hill station in the Shevaroy Hills of Salem district. It is organised by Tamil Nadu Tourism, the Department of Horticulture and the Salem district administration; 2026 was the 49th edition.

The main event is the flower show at Anna Park, beside Yercaud Lake, where the horticulture department arranges flower beds and large models made from flowers and vegetables. Around it are boat races and rowing on the lake, a dog show, cultural performances such as silambattam, puliyattam and folk dances, sports for children, and stalls selling local produce from the coffee and pepper estates of the hills.

Yercaud is about 30 km from Salem up a ghat road with 20 hairpin bends. Outside the festival, its viewpoints, coffee estates and the Shevaroyan temple at the highest point of the hills make it a quieter alternative to the Nilgiris.

Good to know

  • The ghat road is congested on festival weekends and the police may regulate traffic; leave Salem early or use the extra government buses.
  • Book rooms well ahead; many visitors base themselves in Salem and come for the day.
  • Carry a light jacket and rain protection; evenings are cool.
  • Combine the visit with a coffee or pepper estate walk and buy produce directly from growers.
