Yelagiri's hilltop launch site, at about 1,100 metres above sea level, offers clean thermals and a spectacular valley below. You fly tandem with a certified paragliding pilot — no experience required. After a brief ground briefing (10 minutes on running technique, body position, and what to expect), you run a few steps downhill and lift off. The transition from ground to air is gentle and thrilling.
Flights last 15-25 minutes depending on thermal conditions. You soar over the Yelagiri valley — rice paddies, mango orchards, and the winding road that climbs from the plains. The pilot may catch a thermal and spiral upward, giving you a bird's-eye view that stretches to the hazy outline of the Eastern Ghats. At altitude, the silence is remarkable — just the whisper of wind through the lines.
Landing is in a flat field in the valley below. The pilot handles all controls; your job is simply to run a few steps on touchdown. A vehicle picks you up from the landing field and drives you back to the hilltop base.
All pilots are certified by the Paragliding Association of India with a minimum of 500 tandem flights. Equipment is European-certified and inspected before every flight. Flights do not operate in rain, high wind, or poor visibility. The operation carries liability insurance and provides GoPro footage of your flight (included in the price).
